With Valentine’s Day coming up, I wanted to make a door decoration for my friend in a nursing home. I did not have a lot of time, and her Christmas door decoration needed to come down!
Several years ago, I was looking for a simple craft for kids to do at my church. It was Christmas-time, and I found a cute wreath tutorial made from a hanger and fabric scraps. I gathered red, green and white fabric from friends and relatives, and cut the strips ahead of time. All the kids took home a wreath! The younger ones needed a bit of help, but the project was a success! I remembered making the Christmas wreaths, and figured I could adapt for Valentine’s Day.
For this project, I pulled out all my pink fabric scraps, and threw in a few green and white. I had purchased a heart shaped wire wreath years ago, and had never used it. Perfect! I’m not sure where I bought it, but I see online that Joann Fabrics, Walmart and Amazon all have them.
The fabric needs to be cut into 6 inch by 1 inch strips. And then all you do is tie them onto your frame! I used a piece of twine to hang the wreath from an existing Command strip on my friend’s door. Very simple!
This is a craft that kids could do – for an elderly neighbor or relative. Get rid of some of those fabric scraps, and brighten someone’s day!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
